As a patient, you receive two to four pellet insertions per year. This way you don’t have to think about it, and the hormone is available when your body needs it. Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) begins to work within seven to ten days of your pellet insertion. Once a pellet is inserted into the gluteal area, a consistent dose of bio-identical (naturally derived) hormones enter the bloodstream. Every BHRT pellet is custom-compounded to the patient’s unique physiology. Tailoring every treatment to the patient helps ensure the greatest possible success in achieving hormonal balance. Furthermore, the pellets are derived from plants, not animals, which closely mimic the hormones naturally present within your body.
Studies have shown that bio-identical hormone pellet therapy may offer you the most benefits. Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) can come in oral, topical and pellet forms. BHRT has many advantages over other hormone therapies – most notably, the consistent administration of the hormone prevents the rollercoaster-like effects patients often experience with creams and pills.
Initial consultation to evaluate hormonal imbalances for those experiencing the symptoms of andropause and menopause/perimenopause. The Nurse Practitioner will spend 60 minutes with you in order to review lab results (lab draw performed prior to this initial visit), review your medical history, your hormone-related symptoms, and the process of bioidentical compounded hormone pellet placement. *Pellet placement will be performed at a subsequent visit.
After initial hormone consultation and review of laboratory values, a customized dosage/blend of compounded hormone pellets from Evexias will be placed during a 30 minute visit. Subsequent steps will be a recheck of labs at 5 weeks after the initial placement, with the follow-up hormone placement lab review at 6 weeks included in initial consultation fee. *This is an important step to measure the success of the current dosing and for adjustment of future pellet dosing.
The next BHRT pellet insertion appointment is scheduled based on the individual, with the recommended time frame as follows:
- Female at 4 months
- Male at 5 months
Post pellet placement labs are drawn at 5 weeks after initial placement. Your lab results will be reviewed at 6 weeks, as well as a review of hormone-related symptoms and to schedule an appointment for subsequent pellet placement. *This is an important step to measure the success of the current dosing and for adjustment of future pellet dosing.
The next BHRT pellet insertion appointment is scheduled based on the individual, with the recommended time frame as follows:

Aesthetics
Microneedling is a method that is used to treat and improve different skin conditions such as scars, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, rosacea and skin pigmentation issues. It may also help rejuvenate skin. The technique involves using multiple tiny, sterile needles to puncture the skin and cause physical trauma. This trauma prompts the derma, a deeper layer of skin, to rebuild. Microneedling works by increasing the production of collagen and other healing factors by causing trauma to the skin. Collagen is an essential protein that helps keep the skin looking youthful, with a firm, smooth, and stretchy texture. Aging causes the decline of collagen in the skin, contributing to wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Skin can also lose collagen due to injuries, such as acne scarring, stretch marks, or other scars. SkinPen by Bellus Medical is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device. It causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing damage to the cells. The result is effective remodeling of skin tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact. SkinPen treatments can be performed with Skinfuse Lift Hydroglide or with platelet-rich plasma (PRP): Safety and patient comfort is a practitioner’s top priority when performing a microneedling procedure. Using LIFT HG, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel supports the proper wound-healing environment while hydrating the skin and balancing pH during and after the procedure. This lightweight, water based gel provides the glide needed to comfortably perform a treatment without blocking the cartridge or leaving the skin sticky.
Face, neck, and revitalization of other areas of skin can also be accomplished through adding platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to the microneedling process and had been nicknamed the Vampire Facial. PRP has many growth factors and cytokines that can increase collagen growth and enhance wound healing. In turn, the process of micro needling and small dermatologic injections with PRP can decrease the signs of aging and decrease the appearance of scars from trauma and acne. Other skin processes that can be improved through this therapy include hyperpigmentation, fine lines, large pores, and skin laxity. You will be amazed at the difference that PRP Cosmetics can have on your beauty and confidence!
It is important to realize that microneedling is not a quick fix, as it involves the growth of new skin. It can take several months for a person to see the full results of the procedure. It is recommended that you undergo 4 to 6 treatments depending on the skin condition and your age. Microneedling cost differs based on the location and extent of the treatment.
Maintenance therapies
Although blood is mainly a liquid (called plasma), it also contains small solid components (red cells, white cells, and platelets.) The platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood. However, platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are very important in the healing of injuries. PRP is plasma with many more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The concentration of platelets — and, thereby, the concentration of growth factors — can be 5 to 10 times greater (or richer) than usual.
To develop a PRP preparation, blood must first be drawn from you. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. The PRP is then injected into the area of concern. Although it is not exactly clear how PRP works, laboratory studies have shown that the increased concentration of growth factors in PRP can potentially speed up the healing process. PRP therapy can help with orthopedic diseases such as osteoarthritis of many joints, tendonitis, rotator cuff tears, ACL tears, plantar fasciitis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, ankle sprains, ligament injuries, skin rejuvenation, alopecia, and many other conditions.
Trigger points are irritable “knots” in the bands of skeletal muscle tissue. These knots can cause pain, radiated pain, and are present in many chronic musculoskeletal diseases. Repetitive micro-trauma and acute trauma can lead to stress on the muscles and muscle fibers creating trigger points that can limit mobility, cause pain, and radiate pain to wide areas that include large muscle groups. Trigger points can affect the muscles that lead to poor posture, for example, neck, shoulders, and back. Trigger points can also contribute to tension, headaches, migraines, TMJ, back pain, and leg pain.
The Nurse Practitioner can assist with identifying trigger points in acute or chronic injuries that result in pain, limited range of motion, and cause radiation pain to affected areas. Trigger points consist of multiple injections of a local anesthetic (such as lidocaine) into the affected areas to release tension and break up the “knot” in the muscle.
